A person who spiked sweets with tranquilliser and gave them to children at a summer camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual crimes against two children both between nine and ten.
The defendant was detained after eight youngsters and one adult became sick at the facility in the summer month.
The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he stood at the courthouse on the end of the week.
Yet, he denied one particular crime he was facing, which was involving a nine-year-old child.
The defendant was kept in jail before a subsequent court date on 28 November.
'Sweet game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, described Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She said his targets were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a summer program which he operated.
The man engaged in a "sweet game" with the minors, Mrs Prior said, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to eat sweets "as fast as possible".
She told the court the man had conducted this practice with the boys "repeatedly", and children had earlier experienced illness the next day.
She said the man had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had suspicions in summer 2025.
The legal representative stated further: "In the summer" his stepson had worries about the activities, for good reason.
"They decided to have a look in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel stated objects including infant oil, ointment and injection devices were found, and his stepson contacted the law enforcement about his worries.
She explained the defendant continued to engage in the "sweet game" with six children that evening - July 26th - and they were all ill the next day.
"Authorities" had not arrived by that stage," she stated further.
The regulatory agency, the investigative body, previously told that it was reviewing the police response of the incident.
Mrs Prior stated the children were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so the family member called the authorities once more.
She stated Ruben then played the "candy game" in a room of five youngsters.
