Cars in Germany's City Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Confirm

Authorities stated they were alerted by a resident who found a car in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Roughly 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a release.

Officers state they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.

The fluid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they stated.

Officers then found numerous other smeared cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement state early analysis indicate the fluid was most likely human blood.

"There is still no indication as to where it came from; authorities are currently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the incident," they commented.

Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have asked to the community for tips.

An important official commented the vandalism made him speechless and had to be solved rapidly.

"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing attack five years ago," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the death of nine people by a shooter aiming at individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
